Gang targeting parked vehicles, homes busted in Gurugram

Gurugram, Nov 4 (IANS) The Gurugram police have busted a five-member gang that used to steal car accessories (tyres, rims, mirrors and music systems) from unattended vehicles and were also involved in more than a dozen incidents of burglary, the police said on Wednesday.

Two auto rickshaws used in the robberies have been recovered from their possession.

The arrested accused have been identified as Golu alias Jagdeep a resident of Naharpur village in Gurugram while Suresh alias Santosh, Ravi, Sonu alias Chottu and Suresh all are residents of Ajmer in Rajasthan.

“The gang members were arrested with the help of technical surveillance, human intelligence and after a tip-off from the sources a team of crime branch have arrested the culprits from Hero Honda Chowk on Tuesday,” said Subhash Boken, spokesperson of the Gurugram police.

In connection with the incident, a house theft complaint was filed by Sunil Kumar, a resident of Arjun Nagar in Gurugram on October 20 at the New Colony police station.

During interrogation, the culprits disclosed their involvement in over a dozen cases which they had committed in Gurugram within a span of four months. They revealed that apart from the house theft, they also used to steal car accessories from parked vehicles.

“The gang had been active in Gurugram since July 2020. They had targeted multiple houses across the district. The accused will be taken on police remand for further questioning. The matter is under investigation,” the PRO said.
