National Geographic's Genius: MLK/X series showcases the genius of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr., two key figures in the Civil Rights Movement.

Genius: MLK/X Series: The most recent episode of National Geographic’s Genius: MLK/X highlights the unique genius of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr., the two most significant American leaders of the Civil Rights Movement. Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Aaron Pierre play the main protagonists in the series, respectively.

Damione Macedon and Raphael Jackson Jr. presented the pilot episode, which Jeff Stetson wrote and previously worked on, The Meeting.

The show’s fourth season they debuted on Thursday, February 1 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on National Geographic and ABC. Two new episodes will launch each week on all platforms, including Disney+ and Hulu, where streaming will begin on February 2. This season’s compilation series consists of eight episodes in total.

Plot

Brilliant: MLK/X delves into the lives of King and X, following their growth from upbringing filled with painful injustices and strong father figures to becoming the agents of the change they wished to see occur on a worldwide level.

King spent his early years in church and was reared in the South during the Jim Crow era. He was formed during his youth by disparate events and upbringings before finding his destiny at Morehouse and Boston University.

X was raised in a life of vice and aberrant behaviour under the unrelenting, deadly violence of the Klan. He was exposed to the Nation of Islam while incarcerated. The two dreamers eventually rose to start a movement.

The actors Weruche Opia (I May Destroy You), Aaron Pierre (The Underground Railroad), Kelvin Harrison Jr. (The Trial of the Chicago 7), and Jayme Lawson (The Batman) portray Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and Coretta Scott King, respectively.

The show also includes one of Emmy-winning actor Ron Cephas Jones’s last performances from This is Us. This season was once again produced by 20th Television. The show’s production also included contributions from Imagine Television’s Brian Grazer and Ron Howard as well as Kristen Zolner, the company’s head of television.

In the second season of Genius, Antonio Banderas played Pablo Picasso, while Geoffrey Rush played Albert Einstein. In Season 3, Cindy Erivo played Aretha Franklin. With nominations for outstanding lead actor or actress in a limited series coming from the leads of all three seasons, the show has garnered 20 Emmy nominations overall.

After a weekly release, Season 4 of Genius: MLK/X is now accessible on Disney+ and Hulu as of February 2.
