Gold and Silver Price Today, July 14: Gold and silver prices stayed under pressure on Tuesday, July 14, as weakness in international bullion markets spilled over to domestic futures trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). This drop seems to follow that sharp sell-off in global precious metals, mainly because markets are now pricing in higher interest rates, plus a firmer US dollar. Together, they make non-yielding assets such as gold and silver feel less attractive.

MCX Gold and Silver Update

At the MCX, bullion futures kept slipping, basically trading in the red after heavy losses in the prior session. Gold futures kept sliding further, and silver futures remained pressured as well. In Monday’s trade, MCX gold eased by ₹2,000 per 10 grams while MCX silver fell by ₹5,400 per kilogram.

What Investors Should Watch?

Market players are watching the next US inflation prints pretty closely, alongside retail sales numbers and also the latest updates from Federal Reserve officials. “Gold prices edged lower on Monday, tracking weakness in international markets as renewed tensions in the Middle East lifted crude oil prices and revived inflation concerns”, said Saumil Gandhi, Senior Analyst – Commodities at HDFC Securities (to ANI). All of this is likely to steer the short term path for global bullion prices, and that in turn could swing MCX gold and silver futures too.
