Gold and Silver Prices Today, January 3:The start of the year 2026 has brought precious metals, such as gold and silver, to the market, and their prices continue to move up and down. The prices of precious metals in India on January 3, 2026, showed very different trends in different cities and the reason for that is the global gold market and demand from the local market. Gold, in some places, suffered small corrections whereas, on the other hand, silver was pretty strong. This situation is providing a great deal of attraction for buyers and sellers.

Gold and Silver Prices Today, January 3

Gold prices in Indian metros on January 3 were fairly close to the previous day’s prices.

In Delhi, the rate was around ₹13,597 for 24-carat gold and ₹12,465 for 22-carat. While 18-carat gold was priced at around ₹10,202 per gram.

In Chennai, the local sources’ rates indicated the sale of 24-carat gold at about ₹13,658 per gram and 22-carat at ₹12,520 per gram.

Mumbai and Kolkata were also the same as India in gold valuations. The rate of 24-carat is about ₹13,580–₹13,620 per gram, which reflects a pricing mechanism for the yellow metal that is relatively homogenous all over the nation, just with a minor difference due to logistics and demand at city level.

City-Wise Highlights

Across the major markets:

  • Delhi still was the main point for North India, as 24K gold was nearly at the ₹13,600 per gram level.
  • Mumbai’s gold rates were almost the same as Delhi’s, confirming its status as a major trading center for the precious metals.
  • Chennai’s gold was a bit more expensive in terms of 24K gold, a situation that might be partly due to the increased demand for gold jewelry and the South’s overlapping local premium.

Other Cities:

  • Kolkata: 13,582
  • Bengaluru: ₹13,582
  • Hyderabad: 13,582
  • Pune: 13,582
  • Kerala: 13,582

These differences in price among different cities, although in most cases small, generally do not discourage but rather attract buyers especially during the festive season or wedding when gold is a main item in the shopping list.
