Has Gold Become More Expensive?
Gold is still trading near these record-high numbers, so buying jewellery feels more expensive than a few months ago. A bunch of analysts say the price staying so firm is mostly from safe haven demand even with global economic uncertainty. On top of that there are geopolitical tensions that keep lingering around and central banks that are still buying in a steady way.
For the local side, domestic gold prices also get pulled by the international spot price, the rupee to dollar exchange rate, import duties, and any GST that applies.
