Google Tensor G4 Packs Hardware Ray: A recent report has dispelled the notion that the Google Tensor G4 is a revolutionary in-house custom processor. Instead, it appears that the Tensor G4 will offer only modest enhancements over the forthcoming Tensor G3, which is scheduled to debut on October 4 alongside the Pixel 8 series.

The Twitter account @Tech_Reve has leaked additional information about the device. According to the leak, it appears that the Tensor G4 retains its Samsung Exynos origins. It employs a tried-and-true 3-core architecture with Cortex-X4, Cortex-A720, and Cortex-A520 processor cores. The core count remains a mystery, however, we can expect these new chips to provide marginally improved performance.
According to the leaker, the Tensor G4 will feature the Immortalis-G715 GPU, which was introduced by ARM in June 2022. ARM asserts that this new GPU improves performance by 15% across a variety of applications. The hardware acceleration for ray tracing is an additional outstanding feature.
However, there are also some disappointing developments. According to the leaker, Google will use the same 4LPP+ node (4 nanometers) as the Exynos 2400 from Samsung. Google appears uninterested in utilizing Samsung’s cutting-edge 3GAP node (3 nanometers) despite the fact that almost all of its competitors would have 3nm chips by that time.
The hope for an in-house Tensor chip manufactured by TSMC has been pushed back to the Tensor G5 chip, which is anticipated to power the Pixel 10 series smartphone.
