New Xbox Series X and Controller Designs: The console conflicts of the ninth generation are in full swing. Microsoft is working hard to close the disparity between its Xbox Series S and Series X and Sony’s PlayStation 5 with its Xbox Series S and Series X. Are you curious as to what these efforts entail? The FTC’s Microsoft case has revealed a new disc-less Xbox Series X design and a new gyro controller. Here are the specifics…

According to Leaked Documents, Xbox Series X and Controller to Be Redesigned in 2024.

New Xbox Series X and Controller Designs Unveiled

FTC documents have disclosed numerous new facts about Microsoft and Xbox. For instance, we had previously reported on Microsoft’s response to the announcement of the PlayStation 5 and the price increase that occurred last year. Now, an even more significant development has occurred. The documents revealed plans for a cylinder-shaped ‘all-digital’ 2TB Xbox Series X codenamed “Lockhart” in 2024, as well as a new controller with modular thumbsticks.

The new Xbox will, ironically, no longer be a packaging. Beginning in 2024, it will have the appearance of a black cylinder. However, this console’s design is not its most notable feature. With this product, Microsoft is bidding goodbye to Blu-ray disc drives. In today’s society, where the majority of activities are digital, this seems normal and acceptable. However, this eliminates some benefits as well.

For instance, if you’ve owned Xbox game discs for the past few generations and own the Series X, you can currently play them. Unfortunately, the cylindrical shape prevents you from achieving this capability. Moreover, if you, like the majority of us, prefer streaming content over Blu-ray discs and do not own physical game discs, this could be a cost-effective option for you. This is due to the fact that Blu-ray discs are still quite costly.

It costs console manufacturers between $50 and $100 to use this technology. For instance, Sony sells the PlayStation 5 with discs for $500, while the version without discs is priced at $400. In other words, the price of the new Xbox Series X could be $50 to $100 less than that of the current model. Microsoft is targeting the same $499 launch price for the Xbox Series X, according to documents. The console will also feature a new ventilation system that is more efficient and quieter.

Obviously, the cooling system is not the only object undergoing modification. Additionally, the device will support Wi-Fi 6E and have a Bluetooth 5.2 radio. Additionally, the company is reducing the size of the existing die to 6nm in an effort to increase productivity. According to Microsoft’s documentation, the PSU’s power consumption will decrease by 15%.

The new controller, codenamed “Sebille,” will be equipped with Bluetooth 5.2 and an updated “Xbox Wireless 2” connection. Microsoft has also stated that the controller will include “precision haptic feedback” and that its “VCA haptics will double as speakers.” The controller will also have quieter buttons and thumbsticks, a rechargeable and removable battery, modular thumbsticks, and a “lift to wake” feature.

The introduction of the new Xbox Series X and its controller is anticipated for early 2024. However, Microsoft has not yet officially announced the new products, but leaked FTC documents indicate that they are real and will be released shortly.
