Gorakhpur Rail Traffic Hit: Rail passengers travelling through Gorakhpur and the Muzaffarpur-Gorakhpur route should take note of a major operational change announced by the Northeast Railway. A six-day traffic block has been planned for doubling work on the 7.64-km Gorakhpur Cantt–Unaula section, affecting train services in the region.
According to reports, a total of 61 trains will be affected by the work. The changes include cancellations, route diversions, rescheduling and short termination of services.

13 Trains Cancelled
Railway authorities have cancelled 13 trains during the affected period. The cancellations are part of the traffic arrangements required to facilitate the doubling work safely.

11 Trains Diverted
As part of the traffic plan, 11 trains passing through Muzaffarpur will operate via alternative routes.
- 15212 Amritsar-Darbhanga Express running on September 1 and 2, would be diverted route via Roza-Lucknow-Barabanki-Ayodhya Cantt-Varanasi Jn.-Chhapra Rural-Muzaffarpur.
- 14674 Amritsar-Jaynagar Express running on September 1, will be diverted route via Barabanki-Ayodhya Cantt-Varanasi Jn.-Varanasi City-Mau-Bhatni.
- 14673 Jaynagar-Amritsar Express running on September 2 and 3, will be diverted via Bhatni-Mau-Varanasi Jn.-Ayodhya Cantt-Barabanki.
- 13019 Howrah-Kathgodam Express running on September2, will be diverted via Chhapra-Varanasi Jn.-Ayodhya Cantt-Barabanki.
- 13020 Kathgodam-Howrah Express running on September 1, will be diverted via Barabanki-Ayodhya Cantt-Varanasi Jn.-Varanasi City-Mau-Bhatni.
- 14617 Purnia Court-Amritsar Express running on September 2 and 3, will be diverted route via Chhapra-Varanasi Jn.-Ayodhya Cantt-Barabanki-Lucknow (Northern Railway)-Roza.
- 15565 Lalitgram – New Delhi Express running on September 3 will be diverted via Chhapra-Varanasi Jn.-Ayodhya Cantt-Barabanki.

15 Trains to Be Reschedule
- August 30 to September 3, 55040 Barhni-Narkatiyaganj passenger train will be rescheduled 240 minutes from Barhni.
- On August 30 and 31and September 2, 75107 Nakaha Jungle-Gonda DEMU train will be rescheduled by 60 minutes from Nakaha Jungle.
- On September 3, 75106 Gorakhpur-Thawra DEMU train will be rescheduled 180 minutes from Gorakhpur.
- On September 3, 75118 Barhni-Gorakhpur DEMU train will be rescheduled by 120 minutes from Barhni.
- On September 3, 55031 Gorakhpur-Gonda passenger train will be rescheduled by 120 minutes from Gorakhpur.
- 12555 Gorakhpur-Bathinda Express will be rescheduled 180 minutes from Gorakhpur on September 3.
- 22537 Gorakhpur-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express on September 3 will be rescheduled 150 minutes from Gorakhpur.
- On September 3, 15029 Gorakhpur-Pune Express will be scheduled 150 minutes from Gorakhpur.

The changes are linked to doubling work between Gorakhpur Cantt and Unaula. The section involved is approximately 7.64 km long, and the railway has taken a six-day block to complete the required work.
