Gujarat: Charred body of journalist found near an Ahmedabad chemical factory

Ahmedabad: The body of a journalist working for a television channel was found near a chemical factory in Kathwada village of the city on Saturday morning. A passer-by identified as Vijay Thakor, after discovering the body, informed Nikol police station.

The body was identified from the identity card of the victim, according to which the deceased journalist named Chirag Patel was a copy editor for TV9, a Gujarati news channel.

“We have registered a case of accidental death for now and are waiting for forensic evidence to establish whether this was suicide or a murder,” Inspector H B Zala of Nikol was quoted as saying.

According to the The Indian Express, Ahmedabad Crime Branch is assisting the Nikol police station in the probe. “The body has been identified as that of a journalist with TV9,” Deputy commissioner of police Deepan Bhadran was quoted as saying by the leading daily.
