Guwahati Medical College Postpones DNB Final Exam 2019: Check details

Guwahati Medical College Postpones Exams: Guwahati Medical College and the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has delayed the DNB final exam due to the ongoing protest against Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 in Guwahati and nearby areas. The DNB Final Exam 2019 is slated to be held on December 13, 14 and 15, 2019.

As per the notification issued, the Guwahati Medical College, the National Board of Examinations has postponed the DNB Final Exam for Guwahati Centre only and a revised schedule for the DNB Final Exam 2019 will be soon released. The Board has also mentioned in the notice that the exam will be conducted at all other centres across the country as per the earlier schedule.

NBE Notice Confirms Cancellation of DNB Final Exam

The NBE released a formal notification that confirmed the cancellation of the exam. The notice reads “Due to prevailing law and order situations in Guwahati, it has been decided to postpone the DNB Final Examination (Theory) – Dec 2019 scheduled to be held on 13th, 14th and 15th December 2019 at Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati.” The notice further reads “Revised schedule for Guwahati centre shall be intimated in due course… Examination at all other centres across the country will be conducted as per schedule.”

Protests broke out in Assam yesterday after Rajya Sabha passed the Citizenship Amendment, with Guwahati at its epicentre. According to media reports, police fired in Guwahati during intense riots on Thursday, killing two people and injuring many.

To control the situation, police imposed a curfew and Section 144 in the city.

Despite the preventive restrictions, thousands of protesters came to the streets yesterday to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019.
