Dear women, if you are being harassed, tortured or ill-treated by men on roads, public places or any at other place, don’t dare to think that the situation will get better anytime soon. Yes, it won’t and we have all the valid reasons to say that.

A report released in May gives an insight into why men harass women at public places and you will be stunned to know the reasons they gave.

The UN Women and Promundo, an international organization that involves men and boys in gender equality support, talked to 4,830 men in four nations including Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon, and Palestine. And it was found that nearly 31 per cent (in Lebanon) and 64 per cent (in Egypt) men admitted to harassing women in public places. Their actions ranged from ogling, indecent remarks to sexual groping and rape.

But to our surprise, it was also found in the survey that almost 90 per cent men in Egypt said that they harassed women just because it was fun. Contrary to popular belief, the survey also found that better-educated men were more likely to say they’ve harassed women than their less-educated counterparts.

Although men with more education is said to have more progressive thoughts about women and society, this report came as a shock to millions. A report by Slate on the same survey has gone viral on the social media. Here’s how people reacted on ‘women enjoy being harassed’:
