Chandigarh: Counting of votes for five municipal corporations and two municipal committees in Haryana was underway on Wednesday. Polling was held on December 16 in five municipal corporations, namely Hisar, Karnal, Panipat, Rohtak and Yamunanagar, and in two municipal committees – Jakhal Mandi in Fatehabad and Pundri in Kaithal. Voter turnout recorded in the elections was 69.39%.
Voting was conducted in all 110 wards of the municipal corporations of Hisar, Rohtak, Yamunanagar, Panipat and Karnal as well as 25 wards of Jakhal Mandi (Fatehabad) and Pundri (Kaithal). 59 candidates, including 40 men and 19 women, contested the election to the seats of mayor, while 592 candidates (322 men and 270 women) contested the election to the municipal corporation, State Election Commissioner Dalip Singh said.

BJP’s win in all five cities including Hisar, Karnal, Panipat, Rohtak and Yamunanagar. Securing the last seat in Rohtak, Man Mohan Mohan won against Sita Ram by a margin of 14,776 votes.
