Haryana: Muslim Families threatened to leave locality before Holi

Jhajjar: 20-odd Muslim families living in Isharhedi village of Jhajjar district on Delhi-Haryana border are gripped in intense fear after a mob entered forcefully into the house and asked community members to vacate the area before Holi or be ready to face consequences.

According to TOI, On March 1, An FIR had been lodged at Bahadurgarh police station, the complainant has told that 60-70 people belonging to 20-35 age group came to the colony on February 29 and asked them to vacate their houses before Holi or face consequences for not doing so.

A carpenter belonging to the area told TOI that they are living in fear after the incident. “He told the minor members from our families are sent to other places like Delhi,” he added.

Family members have already given up work because of the threats.

The Imam at Jhajjar mosque did not respond to repeated calls.

He adds, “The board examinations of children within the family are about to start, and they fear that they might miss the exams due to the situation.”

Jhajjar DSP Ashok Kumar talked about that an FIR has been registered against the unidentified men and the families have been provided round-the-clock security. Police sanitized the area on Sunday and Monday.
