Pandit Lakhmi Chand Kalakar Samajik Samman Yojana: The Haryana government has started a new scheme called “Pandit Lakhmi Chand Kalakar Samajik Samman Yojana.” This scheme will give monthly money help to older artists who are not financially strong but have done great work in art fields like singing, dancing, drama, painting, and other visual arts. The goal is to honor those who spent many years keeping Haryana’s cultural traditions alive.

This new decision came from a state Cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The government said artists who qualify will get monthly support directly from the government. They want to help those who gave many years to the arts but are now facing financial problems in old age.

The scheme will give Rs 10,000 every month to people who are above 60 years of age. They must be from Haryana and have spent at least 20 years in their art field. The government will check the applicant’s age using the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP).

People whose PPP shows that their total income is Rs 1.80 lakh or less per year will get Rs 10,000 every month. If the income is between Rs 1.80 lakh and Rs 3 lakh, then they will receive Rs 7,000 every month.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a resident of Haryana.
  • Must have a minimum of 20 years of active contribution to fields such as singing, dance, drama, painting, or visual arts.
  • Applicant must be 60 years or older, verified through Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP).

First, the concerned department will check and verify all the applications. Then a special committee will look at the list and decide who should get the benefit. The committee will prepare the final list of artists who will get the honorarium, and this will be based on merit only.

Why This this step is Important

This scheme is very important because many old artists who gave their lives to promote Haryanvi culture are now facing money troubles. This plan will help them live with dignity. The scheme is named after Pandit Lakhmi Chand, who was a famous poet and artist from Haryana, and loved by the people for his work in traditional art.

By giving respect and financial support to artists in their old age, the Haryana government is showing that it cares about its culture and the people who kept it alive. This step is not just about money, but also about showing love and respect to those who gave everything to preserve the state’s art and tradition.

The Haryana Cabinet approved the scheme on May 5, 2025. Now the process of accepting applications, checking them, and choosing the final artists will begin.
