Hero MotoCorp launches its first indigenously developed bike – Splendor iSmart 110

New Delhi: For Pawan Munjal, Chairman and CEO, Hero MotoCorp Ltd. it was a proud moment to launch Hero’s first indigenously developed and designed motorcycle – Splendor iSmart 110 on Thursday here.

Splendor iSmart 110 will be priced at INR 53,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi). The bike is powered by the new110 cc ‘Torque on Demand’ engine that also features Hero’s patented i3S technology (Idle-stop-start system).

“With the launch of the all-new Splendor iSmart 110 today, we have achieved yet another significant milestone in our solo journey. The new iSmart 110 is another example of our efforts, featuring a BS IV compliant engine along with the intuitive, fuel-efficient i3S technology,” said Pawan Munjal.

The world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp while unveiling its new bike has tried to focus on today’s smart generation. iSmart 110 is loaded with an array of safety, comfort and utility features which integrate seamlessly to make the riding experience convenient, hassle-free and enjoyable.The lean and contemporary look of the new bike, along with superior performance and mileage gives the bike a holistic and global appeal.

The company has brought the all new BS-IV compliant 110cc TOD (Torque on Demand) engine. The engine has a better cooling system and 9% more power. The engine could be placed in fuel economy best category as it allows going extra miles within a day. The first-in-class Automatic Headlamp On (AHO)feature gives the bike a unique character, provides enhanced visibility and adds to the safety of the rider while riding in low-visibility conditions.

Talking about the looks and design of the bike, the bike has youthful and modern styling with comfortable long seat. The bike will be available in four exciting color schemes – Silver & Black, Red & Black, Blue & Black and Sports Red.

Earlier in March the company had inaugurated its ‘Global Centre of Innovation and Technology’ (CIT) in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The latest achievement of company to launch its first motorcycle completely designed and developed in-house is a result of the efforts of Hero R&D team at the Hero Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) at Jaipur, said the company CMD Pawan Munjal.

While answering the question whether Hero MotoCorp has any plans to launch CNG scooter as the central government has already launched a pilot project by installing CNG retrofit in scooters in June, Munjal said that Hero does not have to follow what others do, as it has its own plans.
