Theresa May took charge on Thursday, a day after David Cameron resigned as Prime Minister of the UK. Although her biggest challenge will be to lead Britain out of the European Union, Cameron has already advised her to stay as close to the EU as possible.
On Wednesday night she made her first round of appointments. Boris Johnson has bagged the post of foreign secretary while Philip Hammond is the new Chancellor. A new post called Secretary of State for Leaving the European Union has been created; it will be filled by David Davis. Prominent names from the previous government including George Osborne and Michael Gove have been sacked.
