Honesty Day 2023: On April 30th, Honesty Day, we are reminded to watch what we say and to be truthful. The complete and the truth, nothing but the truth? You have a valid point. The real world is not a “court,” and while we go about our regular business, none of us are required to take an oath. Certainly, there have been times when we have avoided hurting the feelings of another person, exaggerated the truth a little bit, or even flat-out lied to someone. Present yourself to the rest of the world in the most positive light you’re capable of.
HISTORY OF HONESTY DAY
M. Hirsh Goldberg, author of “The Book of Lies: Fibs, Tales, Schemes, Scams, Fakes, and Frauds That Have Changed the Course of History and Affect Our Daily Lives,” was the one who came up with the idea for the holiday back in the early 1990s. He timed it so that it would fall on the last day of April in order to counteract the fact that April Fool’s Day (lies!) was celebrated at the beginning of the month.
How frequently do you lie, and how convincingly do you do it? Check out the results of our survey.
HONESTY DAY ACTIVITIES
Always give honest responses to questions that are asked.
Continue, and make it a point to be as truthful as possible. If you have a decent heart, doing this shouldn’t be too challenging for you.
Be honest with the people you talk to.
Have you been keeping something to yourself, even if you’ve been itching to tell someone an essential secret? Give it a shot right now.
Be more transparent
It is a good time to be transparent in the office by speaking less over email and becoming more directly connected with your colleagues through face-to-face and/or video engagement and with higher regularity. If you are a leader in the workplace, it is a good time to make this change. Not only will this help to build trust, but it will also, and more crucially, establish a precedent that will establish a new form of loyalty and attitude that will reverberate across the organisation.

WHY WE LOVE HONESTY DAY
Trust is built upon sincerity.
Being honest gets one very far. People advance their careers by demonstrating that they can be trusted and by making decisions that are in their best interests. This helps to create trust, which is a crucial component of successful teamwork.
Even the most horrible reality is preferable to the most beautiful falsehood.
When we tell lies, it can sometimes start a snowball effect, which ultimately results in our being discovered. Believe the idea that the truth will eventually make its way to the surface; in the meantime, just admit what you know to be true.
We are unable to understand one another’s thoughts.
Not only does telling the facts of the situation constitute honesty, but so does being truthful about the emotions that you are experiencing.
