Hours after joining Aam Aadmi Party, Congress’s Delhi unit vice-president Ali Mehdi and two of the party’s newly elected councillors, Sabila Begum and Nazia Khatoon returned to Congress after a huge protest in Mustafabad against their decision to join the Arvind Kejriwal-led party.

Begum won in Ward 243, Mustafabad, and Nazia Khatoon won in Ward 245, Brij Puri. The Congress won nine seats in the recent MCD elections.
At a press conference on Friday, AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak, a key figure in the MCD election campaign, said Congress leaders had decided to join the party after seeing the work of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
