Ahead of Rajasthan elections, an elderly couple filed nominations from Bikaner East assembly seat as independent candidates. Over 3,000 candidates have filed nomination from 200 constituencies of the royal state.

Swaroop Chand Gehlot told media “We are a happily married couple for 35 years. I have been contesting elections since 1988, however, whenever I leave for a campaign my wife becomes bored at home as all our three daughters are married now. In order to spend time with each other, we have decided that this year, she would also contest too”.

Manjulata Ghelot state “We have always supported each other. If he wins, I will support him and if I win, he will lend his support to me”.

Development, women empowerment, farmers’ apathy and many more key issues have been overlooked by state government, couple alleged and both candidates will focus on these key issues during the poll campaigning.
