Sunil Pal on Samay Raina: Comedian Samay Raina is again in the news after his stand-up show Still Alive made many people feel for him. In the show and in later interviews, he spoke very openly about the hard time he faced after the India’s Got Latent controversy. Many people had questioned him during that period, and comedian Sunil Pal was one of the loudest names among them.
Now, during a chat at Chalchitra Talks, Samay made it very clear that Pal does not matter much in his mind. Recent reports also said Samay used his new special to answer many critics who had spoken against him after the backlash.
Speaking at Chalchitra Talks, Samay Raina shared, “One thing I learned very early in life is that if somebody is saying shit about others, they are going through something. When I look at him, I never feel offended. It’s actually good for me, he’s talking about me.”
He then went even further and said, “Mujhe bura lagta hai unke liye; something is bothering him, there are some insecurities. Woh aadmi mentally at peace nahi hai, and I feel bad for him. I wish he finds peace. Jo banda khud peace mein rehta hai, woh doosron ka peace kharab nahi karta. Jin logon ne humare baare mein Latent controversy ke dauraan bola, woh sab frustrated the. Kapil Sharma ne kuch bola kya? Kisi achhe actor ne kuch nahi bola, na? (I feel bad for him; something is bothering him, there are insecurities. He is not mentally at peace, and I genuinely feel sorry for him. I hope he finds peace.
A person who is at peace doesn’t disturb others’ peace. The people who spoke about us during the Latent controversy were all frustrated. Did Kapil Sharma say anything? No good actor said anything, right?)”
Music Helped Him in a Very Bad Time
Samay also spoke about what helped him survive the stress of that whole phase. He said music became a kind of support for him when things were feeling too heavy. Reports from the last week say he has also spoken in public about anxiety, fear, and deep emotional pressure during the fallout from the show controversy.
Raina also shared that he turned to the guitar during the controversy and said, “Guitar and music, I love playing the guitar and listening to blues. Blues saved my life at that time. I was just listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan, and it felt like the right thing to do. Saari feelings usmein nikal jaati hain. Main jab bahut anxiety mein hota hoon, toh guitar play karta hoon.”
This part of his story made many fans connect with him more. Instead of only joking about the issue, he also showed the pain behind it. That is one reason Still Alive has got so much attention. People are not just seeing a comedian on stage. They are also seeing a person talking about fear, pressure, and how he tried to stay okay when everything around him got messy. Recent coverage of the special says he mixed humor with very personal parts of his life, including the emotional damage caused by the controversy.
What the India’s Got Latent Row was About?
The trouble started after a clip from India’s Got Latent spread online and caused huge anger. The clip showed guest Ranveer Allahbadia asking a contestant an inappropriate question. After that, there was strong backlash on social media, police complaints were filed, and political voices also jumped into the matter. Reports say the issue became one of the biggest comedy controversies in India in recent months.
Following the outrage, Samay Raina took down all episodes of the show from YouTube and said he would cooperate with authorities. Later reporting also said the controversy hit him badly on a personal level. He has since spoken about stress, anxiety attacks, and how broken he felt after the row became so huge.
