Disha Salian Case:

Disha Salian Case: Disha Salian was a celebrity manager who died in Mumbai in June 2020. She was 28 years old at the time. She had also worked with actor Sushant Singh Rajput for a short period.

Her death became a major topic after Rajput was found dead in his Bandra home just days later. This led to years of questions and speculation about whether the two cases were connected.

How did Disha Salian die?

Disha died after falling from a residential building in Mumbai’s Malad area during the night of June 8 and 9, 2020. Mumbai Police had originally registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR).

The early police investigation treated the death as a possible accident or suicide. There was no finding of foul play or sexual assault in that initial inquiry. The case has now taken a new turn after Disha’s father, Satish Salian, approached the Bombay High Court and asked for a fresh investigation.

Why has the Disha Salian case reopened?

On September 2, 2026, the Bombay High Court directed the CBI to take over the case. The court pointed to what it described as “glaring discrepancies” in the earlier investigation and said the initial probe “raised more questions than answers”.

The court also raised questions about the delay in some parts of the investigation. The CBI has now started recording statements and examining the old case material. The agency registered the FIR on September 13, 2026. It covers allegations involving criminal conspiracy, gang rape, murder and disappearance or destruction of evidence.

The FIR and related material mention several people whose roles may need to be examined. These include Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty, Sooraj Pancholi, Dino Morea and others. However, the CBI has said that no person has been formally treated as an accused at this stage. The Bombay High Court also directed that nobody should be treated as an accused unless the investigation finds enough material for reasonable suspicion.
