ICC Test rankings: Virat Kohli retains No. 1 spot, Pujara in top 5

India captain Virat Kohli has maintained his spot at the top of the ICC Test rankings for batsmen while Cheteshwar Pujara returned to top 5 in the latest list released by ICC. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson also retained his second spot by achieving highest career points in ICC Test rankings.

Indian captain Virat Kohli, who scored a brilliant century in the first innings of the Perth Test, gained 14 points and retained his top spot in ICC Test rankings with 934 points. With his century, Kohli has increased his lead of 7 points to 19 with Williamson, who became the first New Zealand player to break the 900-point barrier.

Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara scored a magnificent century at the Adelaide Test, which helped him to gain the 4th spot at ICC Test rankings with 816 points.

Among bowlers, Australia’s Nathan Lyon who took 5-wicket-haul in the first innings and 3 wickets in the second innings of the Perth Test has been rewarded at 7th spot in ICC Bowlers Test rankings. Lyon is followed by team-mates Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood at number 8th and 9th spot.

Indian bowlers also succeeded to impress the spectators at the Australian pitches. Mohammed Shami, by taking 6 wickets in the second innings of the Perth Test, moved up by two slots to No.21 and Ishant Sharma’s 5-wicket-haul in the Perth Test helped him to overtake Moen Ali at the 26th spot.
