The last date to file Income Tax Returns for the Assessment Year 2018-19, is today, August 31, 2019. Earlier, July 2019 was the last day to file for return but the Indian government extended it by a month.
Contrary to fake reports, the Income Tax Department has clarified that the last date is 31 August. “Taxpayers are advised to file Returns within extended due dt of 31.08.2019,” the Income Tax India tweeted quashing the rumours.
Individuals, Body of Individuals, Hindu Undivided Family and Association of Persons must file there returns by August 31, 2019 or else pay fine.
It has come to the notice of CBDT that an order is being circulated on social media pertaining to extension of due dt for filing of IT Returns. The Businesses Requiring Audit must file their taxes by 30th September 2019 while requiring TP report can submit their filing by 30th November 2019.
For the GST returns, the Central government extended the last date of filing it by three months. Earlier the deadline was August 31, 2019 but it has now been extended to November 30.
“It is hereby informed that the last date for furnishing of ‘Annual Return’ in the ‘FORM GSTR-9 or FORM GSTR-9A’ and ‘Reconciliation Statement’ in the ‘FORM GSTR-9C’ for the Financial Year 2017-18 is extended from 31st August, 2019 to 30th November, 2019,” the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) said in a statement.
