India Government Schemes 2026: Planning money is different at every age some people are trying to pay daily bills. Some want to save for the future. Others want safety for their family or a steady income after retirement. India has many government-backed schemes that can help with banking, insurance, savings and pensions.
As Sebi-registered investment advisor Madhupam Krishna said, “Government initiatives are designed not merely to provide financial assistance, but to build a stronger foundation for household financial stability, particularly for low-income families, rural communities, women, senior citizens and other underserved groups.”
These schemes give people a simple and safer way to manage money. They are made to help more people enter the formal financial system and to offer protection in basic but important ways.

The Public Provident Fund, or PPF, is a long-term savings option. It currently offers 7.1% annual interest and allows yearly deposits from Rs 500 to Rs 1.50 lakh. The account has a 15-year lock-in, so it works best for patient savers who want a government-backed plan for the long run.
