5:00 PM| Tarkishore Prasad elected as the leader of the BJP legislature party in Bihar, informed Sushil Kumar Modi on Sunday. The decision was taken during the party’s meeting, in which Modi suggested that a youth leader should be made the leader of the BJP legislature party in the state.

Prasad has been elected as the MLA from Katihar seat in Bihar polls 2020. Meanwhile, Modi was elected as leader of BJP Vidhan Mandal in Bihar. However, the decision on the Deputy CM is not yet clear.


1:45 PM| Nitish Kumar has been elected as the chief minister at the legislator meeting of the National Democratic Alliance(NDA) which met today to elect the leader for Bihar, after they won the majority in the states’s assembly  elections.

He is set to serve as the chief minster for the fourth straight term as NDA won 125 seats in the 243-member state Assembly.

Nitish Kumar will take oath on Monday (November 16) at 11:30 AM at Governor’s House in Patna. This will be the Nitish’s fourth consecutive term as the CM of Bihar. The formal announcement of Nitish Kumar’s as NDA leader in Bihar came after a meeting which was attended by senior NDA leaders in Patna.


1:00 PM| Countdown for the formation of a new government began in Patna on Sunday with a meeting of the NDA underway at the official residence of Nitish Kumar who is set to return as Chief Minister for the fourth consecutive term.

A meeting of the BJP legislature party, which was to precede the one where all constituents of the coalition will declare Kumar as their leader, was deferred as it was to begin at 10 A.M. in presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who has been sent as an observer.

However, Singh arrived at the airport nearly two hours behind schedule and legislators waiting at the Birchand Patel Marg state headquarters were sounded off that they should rush to 1, Anney Marg, the CMs official residence where leaders of the JD(U) headed by Kumar, Jitan Ram Manjhis HAM and Mukesh Sahnis Vikassheel Insaan Party were also present.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders will meet at 12.30pm on Sunday to formally choose its leader in Bihar, chief minister Nitish Kumar said.

NDA leaders had gathered at Kumar’s residence on Friday for an informal interaction, the first such event after the election results were declared on November 10.

“We sat together and decided to convene a meeting of elected legislators of all the four partners on November 15 at 12.30pm. All decisions will be taken in that meeting. After the meeting and election of the NDA leader, we will stake claim to form the government,” said Kumar.
