On Independence Day where the whole India is coloured in three shades, saffron, white and blue, Indian High Commission in Pakistan is also seen shining with tri-colour. The High Commission building was beautifully decorated with the lights of three colour of national flag to mark the 72nd year of Indian Independence.

Yesterday Pakistan also celebrated its Independence Day on 14th August. To mark the occasion of both the countries’ Independence Day, Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ajay Bisra met Pakistan’s PM in waiting Imran Khan to and presented him a bat signed by the team of Indian cricketers.

To mark the occasion, tradition of exchanging sweets and greetings among the guards of India and Pakistan was practiced on the Attari-Wagah border. Apart from this one of the most humanitarian gesture to celebrate an Independence Day that has also been a tradition between the two countries to release prisoners was also practiced.

On Monday, Pakistan released 30 Indian prisoners from its captive, among whom 27 were fishermen, whereas one 20-year-old Indian prisoner Jitendra Arjunwar was also set free. Jitendra was suffering from Thalassemia and had crossed the border unintentionally after an argument with family membersin 2013.
