IPL 2020: Harbhajan Singh pulls out of tournament due to 'personal reasons'

Another big blow for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has decided to pull out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 due to personal reasons.

Harbhajan conveyed his decision to the franchise on Friday. He became the second cricketer from the CSK camp to withdraw his name from this year’s IPL citing personal reasons after Suresh Raina. Later reports emerged that Raina pulled out from the IPL following a row over hotel room and also had an argument with CSK skipper and best friend Mahendra Singh Dhoni about the same.

The veteran spinner, Singh had joined CSK in 2018 after spending ten years with Mumbai Indians. In 2018, he helped CSK win their third title. Last year, he had picked up 16 wickets when the MS Dhoni-led side made it to the final where they lost to Mumbai Indians.

CSK will resume their training from Friday. While all the other seven teams started their preparation from last week itself, CSK had to extend their quarantine after 13 members including two players of their camp tested positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly revealed that the full schedule of Indian Premier League 2020 will be released today. The IPL 2020 is scheduled to be held in UAE between September 19 and November 10, but the full itinerary is not yet out. Ganguly said it’s on the verge of getting final.
