IPL 2022 Auction: The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises are all geared up for the forthcoming mega auction ahead of the 2022 season.

After the existing eight franchises had retained a maximum of 4 players each, the two new franchises – Ahmedabad and Lucknow – have also signed 3 players each before heading into the auction which is to be held in the middle of February.

It took time for Ahmedabad and Lucknow to get the Letter of Intent (LoI) from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and there were doubts that the Ahmedabad franchise could even slip out of CVC Capitals’ hands over their investments into betting businesses.

However, the BCCI found no conflict after completing their due diligence and issued the LoI to both the new franchise owners.

Between Lucknow and Ahmedabad, the latter put in the most money to sign the three players it wanted to.

The situation, hence, will see Ahmedabad going into the bidding-war with a smaller purse than Lucknow.
