The official website of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) was down on Saturday. However, it was restored at around 1.30 pm and the operations could be carried out smoothly.

However, a message was displayed on the site that read, “DUE TO MAINTENANCE ACTIVITY E-TICKETING SERVICE IS NOT AVAILABLE. PLEASE TRY LATER. FOR CANCELLATION/FILE TDR, PLEASE CALL AT CUSTOMER CARE NO. 011-39340000,011-23340000 OR MAIL AT [email protected].”

This had caused much inconvenience to the passengers. According to the information shared by the users on Twitter, the website was reportedly down since Saturday morning and there was no information about the same on the official Twitter handles of the Ministry of Railways or Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.

In a similar incident, the IRCTC website was down on 22 June . The same message was displayed on the website and the mobile app that time as well.

According to an IRCTC report, the average daily sale of train tickets through the official website is around 5.5 to 6 lakhs. The portal has over 3 crore registered users.
