The enthusiasm for Superman is clear, as it was recognized as one of the most anticipated summer films in Fandango’s 2025 Moviegoing Trends & Insight Study, which included responses from over 5,000 moviegoers. Beyond the ticket buyer poll, Nicholas Hoult’s take on Lex Luthor has been singled out in the press as one of the year’s most anticipated performances, per a separate survey of over 9,000 ticket buyers.

Prospects for Box Office Glory
Industry analysts expect Superman to have a historic opening weekend, possibly over £100 million. The last Superman solo outings have all enjoyed impressive box office success, with Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman raking in £166 million in its opening weekend way back in 2016. After it, the next biggest openings are Man of Steel at £116.6 million and Justice League at £93.8 million.
As of now, the biggest opening of 2025 is a Warner Bros production, the Minecraft Movie, which is at £162.7 million. In the superhero film arena, the only opening bigger than this year through the first nine months is Disney’s Captain America: The book adaptation Brave New World, which opened to £88.8 million.

Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and Edi Gathegi as the genius Mister Terrific As a group, they can be known as the “Justice Gang,” a group of powerful newcomers who will work to expand the cinematic universe.
Superman story will be inspired, in part, by the brilliant All-Star Superman miniseries, with a focus on the character’s moral compass and everlasting hope, even in an evermore complex world. Rather than being an origin story, the movie will reportedly explore Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage and his human identity.
