Jamia Millia Islamia organised a workshop on millets-based recipes to raise awareness about the superfood, officials said on Thursday. The workshop was organised on the directives of the Ministry of Education to mark the International Year of Millets, they said.
The United Nations has designated 2023 as the International Year of Millets to raise the awareness of millets and increase their production and consumption.
The workshop was organised by the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management (DTHM), Faculty of Management Studies, JMI on Monday.
During the event, HoD, Dr Sarah Hussain said India is proud to be leading the way in promoting millets as its consumption provides more nutrition, healthier lifestyle, and farmer welfare.
Professor Amirul Hasan Ansari, Dean, faculty of management studies at JMI appreciated the department’s efforts in raising awareness about health, nutrition and public welfare.
All the delicacies during the workshop were prepared using millets as the base ingredient.
