Jammu-Delhi Duronto express looted by armed robbers; probe underway

There are initial leads of the incident with the railway protection force and strict action will be taken against the culprits, said Northern Railways.

Jammu-Delhi Duronto express was looted by unidentified gunmen on Thursday morning. B3 & B7 were the prime coaches that were looted by the gunmen. The train was coming to Delhi from Jammu when the incident happened.

Initial reports suggested that the train was stopped at the Badli station and the armed gunmen entered the train and looted the passengers onboard. The criminal snatched cash and jewellery from the passengers and ran.

A passenger who was travelling in the train narrated the horror in a post on the online complaints portal of the railways. “Suddenly some 7 to 10 unidentified miscreants entered coaches B3 and B7 of the train. They were carrying sharp-edged knives with them. They put the knife near to the neck of passengers and asked them to hand over whatever expensive items they are carrying with them,” the person wrote.

There are initial leads of the incident with the railway protection force and strict action will be taken against the culprits, said Northern Railways.

No security personnel was said to be there at the time of the incident that lasted 10-15 minutes.
