Jana Nayagan Bookings Open: Thalapathy Vijay’s much-awaited Jana Nayagan has once again started making news after advance ticket listings showed up on booking platforms despite months of uncertainty around its theatrical release. This development brought the fan speculation back to life, especially after the film missed its initial release plan due to certification trouble with the Central Board of Film Certification, (CBFC).
Jana Nayagan Bookings Open
Earlier this year, some eagle-eyed fans spotted Jana Nayagan appearing on ticket-booking sites like BookMyShow and District by Zomato, even before the makers had given any proper release announcement. Those listings then spread fast on social media and for a while people assumed the release was basically right around the corner. But the production team, didn’t really confirm the dates at once. So everyone was left wondering whether it was a real schedule or just placeholder listings the usual thing that happens.
This confusion got stronger after the film’s intended January 2026 release got pushed back, because delays kept coming up during the CBFC certification process. Because of that, the makers were forced to revise the theatrical launch timeline multiple times.
Why was Jana Nayagan Delayed?
Jana Nayagan, a political action drama, is directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions. For the past few months, it’s had one of the most bumpy release paths in recent Tamil cinema.
The movie reportedly stayed stuck in the CBFC certification pipeline for several months. And alongside that, reports also mentioned legal disputes, plus an extensive online piracy leak which made the release strategy even more complicated. Industry insiders and the production team repeatedly stated that the film would hit theatres only after receiving the required certification.

Release Date Confirmed
The uncertainty has now largely been resolved. Following the completion of the certification process, Jana Nayagan has received an ‘A’ certificate from the CBFC. Overseas distributors were subsequently instructed to prepare for a July 24 worldwide release, and the makers have officially confirmed the date.

Industry tracker Ramesh Bala confirmed the development to SCREEN and said, “The censor certificate is expected this Saturday. International distributors have been told in advance because they need to book screens early.” Distributors within the country, he added, have been kept in the loop through informal channels for now. “Indian distributors have been informed informally for now. Once the certificate comes through, the makers will announce the date officially. In India, screens can be booked even two days before release, so there is no rush,” Bala said.
The film carries a certified runtime of approximately 3 hours and 3 minutes, making it one of Vijay’s lengthiest theatrical releases.
A Landmark Film in Vijay’s Career
Jana Nayagan is widely regarded as Vijay’s final film before his transition into full-time politics. Directed by H. Vinoth, the film features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Priyamani, Prakash Raj, Narain, Mamitha Baiju, and Gautham Vasudev Menon in key roles, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
Given Vijay’s massive fan following and the significance of the project as his cinematic farewell, industry analysts expect the film to draw strong opening-day collections despite the prolonged delays.
