Congress candidate Bikshal Kongari wins the Kolebira Assembly bypoll elections with a margin of more than 9 thousand votes.

After 15th round, Congress candidate Bixel Kongadi leads by 7900+ votes. Congress: 31803 BJP: 23850 Sengal Party: 17630

After the 13th round Congress’ Bixel extends his lead further.
As it stands: Congress – 27132, BJP – 20408, Sengal Party – 15194

After 12 rounds of counting, Congress candidate Bixel Kongadi maintains his lead. He has 23470 votes to his name while the BJP candidate has 18864 and Sengal Party is with 14665.

Congress candidate Bixel Kongadi continues the lead in the eleventh round as well. Congress has received 22101, BJP 17995, Sengal Party 12206 and Jharkhand Party 9348. Congress is leading by 4106 votes against BJP.


After nine rounds of counting, Congress candidate Bixel Kongari is leading with over 5,000 votes


After seven rounds of counting, Congress’ Bixel Kongari is leading with over 1,000 votes. Meanwhile, BJP candidate is maintaining second spot.


Congress continues its lead in the sixth round as well, Jharkhand Party reduced to the fourth spot.


Congress candidate Bixel Kongadi increased the lead in the fifth round. Congress now leading by 1234 votes against rival BJP candidate.


11:05 am: Jasdan byelection result:

BJP candidate Kunvarji Bavalia has won Jasdan assembly bypoll with over 19,000 votes.


Kunvarji Bavalia leads Jasdan Assembly seat with over 19,000 votes, Congress candidate Avsar Nakiya has received 63,000 votes.


10:55 AM, Kolebira bypoll result live update:

Congress candidate Bixel Kongadi continues the lead in the fourth round as well. Congress has received 7597, BJP 7044 and Jharkhand Party 3554.


10:47 am: Jasdan byelection result:

After 15 rounds of counting, BJP CandidateKunvarji Bavalia is leading with 17,000 votes. Bavalia received more than 73,000 votes.


10:25 AM, Kolebira bypoll result live update:

Fourth round of counting is completed,


After round 3 of counting, Congress lead reduced to 23 votes in Kolebira. NOTA has received 550 votes till now.


10:17 am: Jasdan byelection result: After round 8 of counting, BJP’s Kunvarji Bavalia had captured 38,500 votes while Congress’ Nakiya had 29,600 votes.

After round two of counting, Congress candidate Bixel Kongadi is leading with 1,000 votes. BJP second, Jharkhand Party on third.


9:35 AM: Jasdan bypoll result live update:

Kunvarji Bavalia now leading with over 11,000 votes after 8 rounds of voting


Five rounds of voting completed in Jasdan. BJP Candidate Kunvarji Bavalia leading with over 7,000 votes.


Round three of counting goes on in Jasdan, BJP’s Kunvarji Bavaliya has recorded 17,600 votes while Congress’ Avsar Nakiya has 14,400 votes. BJP leading by 3,200 Votes


9:30 AM, Kolebira bypoll result live update:

After round one of counting, Congress candidate is leading with 600 votes from Kolebira assembly seat in Jharkhand.


Since 1960, the BJP has won Jasdan constituency only once in 2009.


9:10 AM: Round 3 of counting completed, BJP’s Kunvarji Bavaliya leads Congress’ Avsar Nakiya by 2700 votes. Bavaliya at 13,780 votes, Nakiya at 11,060 votes.


9:03 AM: Second round of counting completed, BJP’s Kunvarji Bavaliya leads Congress’ Avsar Nakiya by 1200 votes. Nakiya at 8700, Bavaliya at 9900


The results for the Jasdan and Kolebira assembly seats in Gujarat and Jharkhand respectively will be declared today. Counting of votes started at 8 am. The bypoll in Jasdan was necessitated after Congress MLA Kunvarji Bavaliya quit his party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Kunvarji Bavaliya is a five-time MLA in the Gujarat assembly. The BJP is in power in both the states. Though bypolls are being held for only one seat each in Gujarat and Jharkhand, the results can be seen as a reflection of people’s perception about the BJP governments in these states.

The bypoll in Kolebira after Jharkhand party MLA Enos Ekka was convicted for a teacher’s murder. There are five candidates in the fray in the Kolebira Assembly constituency. However, the main contest is between the Congress, BJP and Jharkhand Party.

The BJP has fielded Basant Soreng, while the Congress candidate is Bixel Kongadi. The Jharkhand Party has put up Menon Ekka. The Congress is supported by all the opposition parties except the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

The bypoll results come after the assembly elections results in five states, three of which voted the Congress to power. The polling for Jasdan and Kolebira (ST) assembly constituencies were held on December 20.
