Dhanbad sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate Court has sentenced one-year imprisonment to eight people including Dhanbad’s Baghamara MLA Dhullu Mahto on charges of obstructing government officials and hindering government work.
The court sentenced the convict Dhullu Mahto, Santosh Mahto, Manik Mahato, Ravana Mahto, Dhiren Mahto, Manoj Mahto, Sitaram Mahto and Binod Mahto for one year and fined with Rs 200. The eight convicts have been sentenced under Section 143 for 6 months, 1 month under section 341 and one-year imprisonment and Rs 200 fine under Section 283.

On June 6, 2006, lawyer Mahto had died in a road accident near Dardamod. As per the police officials, advocate Mahto met with an accident over the highway following which, MLA Dhullu Mahto along with his party supporters, arrived the incident spot, demanding the compensation for the deceased lawyer Mahto. The court has given bail to all eight people, including Dhullu Mahto on a personal bond of 10 thousand rupees for 30 days.
