Dr. Ahmed, who has been ill for a long time, has previously been taken to Delhi for treatment. His body will be brought to his home in Pachamba, Giridih, on Sunday, according to the reports.

Jharkhand: Former minister Dr Saba Ahmed passes away

Dr. Saba Ahmed, 82, a veteran politician from Jharkhand who served as a minister in the unified Bihar government, died this morning at 5 a.m. at Fortis Hospital in New Delhi. Dr. Ahmed, who has been ill for a long time, has previously been taken to Delhi for treatment. His body will be brought to his home in Pachamba, Giridih, on Sunday, according to the reports.

Significantly, Dr. Ahmed has long been involved in Jharkhand-Bihar politics. He was involved in Jharkhand Vikas Morcha. After the merger of JVM and BJP on February 11, 2020, Dr. Saba Ahmed began exploring new political options for himself, but his health continued to deteriorate during the Covid period, and he left active politics. His supporters were constantly praying for his good health after he was admitted to the hospital.

Dr. Saba Ahmed served in the governments of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi during the period of undivided Bihar. In Unified Bihar, he was the Minister of Higher Education and Prisons. He was also the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly’s Deputy Speaker and Working Speaker. His political career began with JMM. His father, Dr. I. Ahmed, was a Congress Member of Parliament from Giridih. Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed, his elder brother, is currently the JMM MLA from Gandey. Saba Ahmed has represented the Tundi assembly constituency. He’d also won on an RJD ticket from the same seat.
