Jharkhand man arrested for uploading fake Lok Sabha election schedule

Police received a complaint from Chief Electoral Officer and an FIR was registered against the man.

Ranchi: A 21-year-old man hailing from Jharkhand was arrested by the Police for uploading false Lok Sabha election schedule on his website. Reportedly, the schedule was first circulated on a WhatsApp group.

The accused, Gomunt Kumar is a resident from Jharkhand and a student of B.Sc from Jharkhand.

After the police received a complaint from Chief Electoral Officer, an FIR was registered against the man on January 18. The officer told the police regarding circulating of fake Lok Sabha schedule on various social media platforms. After the case was registered an investigation took place wherein a website named www.mytechbuzz.in was found which has published fake news of the general elections.


A technical investigation took place and the admin of the website was traced. The man was arrested on 31st January.

When the police asked the accused he told that he received the schedule on WhatsApp group and he published the same on his website to increase the popularity of his website.

Later, the accused was granted bail and her devices were seized as police continue to probe his involvement in other cases or with political parties. The website of the man was shut down and further investigation is underway to find the person who was responsible for sharing the fake schedule of the elections.
