Jharkhand: Over 50 injured in stone pelting during VHP rally; section 144 imposed

Lohardaga: Over 50 people were injured in stone-pelting while several vehicles were set on fire during Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) rally in Jharkhand’s Lohardaga on Thursday afternoon, following which, section 144 has been imposed in the area,

According to the latest reports, the incident happened when the rally taken out in support of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act by some Hindutva outfits, reached the Amlatoli Chowk area. VHP alleged petrol bomb attacks, stone-pelting during the rally.

Deputy Commissioner Akanksha Ranjan and Superintendent of Police Priyadarshi Alok are at the spot to control the situation. A large number of police personnel have also been deployed in the area.

Meanwhile, the VHP in a tweet questioned the Hemant Soren government and police for inaction.
