Jharkhand Police SUVs And Motorcycles Distribution: The Jharkhand Police has started the second part of its vehicle upgrade programme. Under this phase, districts across the state will get 627 SUVs and 847 motorcycles. The new vehicles are meant to help police teams move faster and reach difficult areas more easily.
Police headquarters said the vehicles will be used for regular patrolling, rescue work and handling law-and-order situations. The focus is also on remote and sensitive areas where reaching quickly can be difficult. The new fleet is expected to make police response faster during emergencies and improve daily field work.

The latest distribution comes after the first phase began on March 13, 2026. Chief Minister Hemant Soren had then flagged off 636 four-wheelers and 849 two-wheelers from the Jharkhand Assembly premises in Ranchi. The state government had approved a much larger total fleet of 1,255 patrol vehicles and 1,697 two-wheelers for police modernisation.
Khunti Gets New Police Vehicles
Khunti district has received 14 SUVs and 12 motorcycles in the latest phase. The vehicles were formally sent into service on Monday by Khunti SP Rishava Garg and other police officers at the district police office.
The new vehicles will now be sent to different police stations. This will help officers cover more areas during patrols and respond to calls faster.
“The vehicles will be distributed among police stations, enabling better patrolling in far-flung areas. The district is also expected to receive 18 more motorcycles shortly,” Garg said.

The extra motorcycles will give police teams more options when travelling through areas where larger vehicles may not be suitable. This can be especially useful for reaching smaller roads and far-away locations.
New Vehicles to Help in Crime Control and Rescue
The vehicle upgrade is also expected to help police deal with criminal activity and emergencies. In Simdega, SP Shrikant S Khotre said the additional vehicles would improve efforts against criminal groups operating across state borders. They will also help police respond more quickly during emergencies.
The new vehicles have already been useful in road accident cases. Khotre said police vehicles recently helped save five lives by allowing injured people to receive quick assistance. Simdega police have also distributed new patrol vehicles among police stations and outposts to improve regular patrolling and emergency response.
