Jharkhand’s own Veerappan Kundan Pahan surrenders

Kundan Pahan, the most wanted Naxalite, considered as Jharkhand’s Veerappan, has surrendered on Thursday. According to the sources, the police took him in possession and are trying to get information from him.

While Jharkhand police had kept a reward of Rs 15 lakh on Kundan, a cash reward of Rs 1 crore was announced by the police headquarters to nab him.

Kundan is a resident of Bundu area in Jharkhand, where he is known as Veerappan. He was the Zonal commander of CPI Maoist. Several cases of cruelty and violence have been registered against him. His only one blurred photograph was with the police.

Kundan is accused of killing Bundu’s MLA Ramesh Singh Munda along with killing 6 other policemen including Bundu DSP Pramod Kumar. He has also been accused of looting 5.5 cr of ICICI Bank and one kg of gold. He had played a key role in murder of MP Sunil Mahato and Inspector Francis Indwar.
