In a first such move, the Ministry of Women and Child Development is seeking some out-of-the-box ideas and suggestions from people on a draft on National Policy for Women. The suggestions would be incorporated into the policy. The ministry is seeking suggestions so that it can conclude the draft.

The ministry has formulated the National Policy for Women and it has been a 2 year process with several stakeholder consultations. The transformative policy will tackle the needs of women in New India and also direct the functioning of the Government in decades to come.

“I have been happy to take action on Change.org petitions supported by you. We have taken steps to ease the passport rules for children of single parents and control the alarming rates of caesarean section births. I would now like to hear your suggestions for this policy by the 15th May 2017,” said Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi.

People can also send their suggestions on Twitter and Facebook page of the Ministry with the #NationalPolicy4Women on all suggestions.
