Justice Arvind Singh Chandel Takes Oath as Patna High Court Judge

In a notable judicial appointment, Justice Arvind Singh Chandel took the solemn oath of office as a judge of the Patna High Court on Saturday. The ceremony, held at Raj Bhavan, was presided over by Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and witnessed by several dignitaries.

Justice Chandel’s transition to Patna follows a decision announced on May 29 by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice. Born on September 1, 1963, in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, he holds a BA degree from Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Raipur, and an LLB from Guru Ghasidas University, Bilaspur.

Before his current role, Justice Chandel served in various capacities within the judiciary of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, including roles such as presiding officer of the State Transport Appellate Tribunal, Raipur, and District and Sessions Judge, Kawardha, before being elevated to the Chhattisgarh High Court in 2017 and becoming a permanent judge in 2019.
