Karnan’s response comes after the Apex Court order, which came earlier on Monday. On Monday, the Supreme Court ordered a medical examination of Justice CS Karnan of the Calcutta High Court. The court has also ordered for a medical board to be formed to investigate Justice Karnan’s mental condition. The medical examination is scheduled on May 5 and the reports are to be submitted on May 8 as per court orders.
The apex court had invoked its powers to initiate contempt proceedings against Justice Karnan for writing letters accusing on several judges. Justice Karnan has been accused of circulating letters against sitting High Court judges of the Madras High Court, and he has also allegedly written about Supreme Court judges in his letters to the Prime Minister’s Office.
