Bigg Boss: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday launched a scathing attack on actor-politician Kamal Haasan saying the latter was spoiling families through his Bigg Boss television show and films.

The Chief Minister alleged that the show hosted by the actor-politician for a private television channel will spoil families. He also criticised the 66-year-old star, alleging he has joined politics recently after retiring from acting and does not know anything.

“Kamal Haasan, who anchors Bigg Boss, is unfit for politics,” Palaniswami said while speaking in Ariyalur.

He said: “He has joined a political party only recently after retiring. What does he know? He is 70 and he is hosting Bigg Boss. What will happen if a man hosting Bigg Boss enters politics? Not one family in the state will be good if they watch the show.”

“If you take MGR for instance, there were good messages in his movies and songs,” Palaniswami said, while recalling the film career of the AIADMK founder. “But, that is not the case with Kamal. His films and programmes are polluting families.”

Later, speaking in Perambalur, Palaniswami alleged that Kamal was trying to garner votes in the name of MGR.

“That is because Kamal has no personal influence,” he said. “Various parties are claiming MGR’s legacy to get votes. Kamal is also trying the same thing. AIADMK is the only movement that has the right to use the late leader’s name.”

Haasan responded to the tirade with a cryptic tweet: “That even the Chief Minister watches Bigg Boss gives me happiness.”
