Under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Saat Nishchay Yojna, 12-watt solar street lights will be installed in all the villages of Bihar. This will not only brighten the streets of the villages but will also save electricity. Necessary action has been initiated by the concerned departments to install solar street lights in all villages.

Around 55,000 LED lights were installed last year against the target of 75,000 across the city. This included the replacement of defunct sodium-vapor lights in the first phase. EESL had put the work on hold due to some internal issue. It is likely to resume the installation work in 15 days,” PMC’s deputy municipal commissioner Vishal Anand said.

He said the second phase of work will commence after the completion of the first one. “The phase-2 work will include installation of LED lights at electric poles on the branch roads. The project is likely to be completed in the next three months,” he said.

The PMC has also taken up works for an installation of LED street lights for Prakashotsava celebrations. “We will also install LED street lights in Patna City and Bypass road areas where a large number of pilgrims would visit for the 352nd birth anniversary celebrations of 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh,” Vishal said

In every village, Breda has been engaged in the implementation of agencies to install solar lights. Which agency will go to the villages and install solar lights, it will be decided by the empanelment itself. Breda officials said the tender process would begin soon.

The tender will take full care of how the quality of solar lights installed in villages will be better. Breda will also make a policy on how to maintain the light. Breda tries to make such an arrangement that when the solar light is installed, it should also work properly. For this, agencies will also be given the responsibility of maintenance for a few years.
