Karnataka Board Exams 2024: The Karnataka education board is planning to eliminate the concept of supplementary examinations for SSLC (10th grade) and PUC (12th grade). Instead, the Karnataka Board has decided to introduce ‘three annual examinations’ for SSLC and PU board exams, namely Exam 1, Exam 2, and Exam 3.
Karnataka Board Exams 2024: No more SSLC, PUC supplementary exams; 3 annual exams introduced
In the current examination system, students who fail one or two papers in the Karnataka SSLC Exams and Karnataka 2nd PUC Exam are required to take supplementary exams. According to experts, this increased student stress and anxiety. This hinders students’ retention of knowledge, meaningful learning, and academic progress. With this in mind, the current system is being modified.
Under the revised module, students will have the opportunity to improve their scores by retaining their highest marks from the first, second, and third examinations. This will also improve their chances of being selected for further study or employment.
In addition, experts believe that by renaming’supplementary exams’ as ‘exam 1, 2, or 3′, three opportunities can be made available to students that will improve their overall performance and positive attitude.
The decision was also made in consideration of the fact that students’ learning styles and tempos vary, and that administering exams 1, 2, and 3 can help students adapt to their individual learning styles and reduce the tension caused by time constraints.
