Karnataka: Hassan district BJP president Yoga Ramesh joins Congress

Hassan: In a shot in the arm for the Congress party, Yoga Ramesh, who was Bharatiya Janata Party’s Hassan unit president joined the grand old party on Thursday. The development comes days after Ramesh met Congress-JD(S) coalition and held discussions with Siddaramaiah.

The leader was against former minister A Manju’ return to the saffron party and opposed the party’s decision to put Manju as the candidate for the Hassan Lok Sabha seat. Ramesh had said Manju had ruined the BJP in Hassan district before joining the Congress.

“His contribution to Hassan as district in-charge minister was zero. Manju left the Congress in tatters in Hassan. The party leadership should issue the ticket to a local leader”.

Before becoming the BJP president for the district unit, Ramesh had contested Assembly elections from Arkalgud constituency as an Independent candidate in 2013. He has previously worked with the Transport Department as a motor vehicle inspector for about 21 years. The politician is the son of Ho. Thi Hucchappa, a Raitha Sangha leader.

Elections in Karnataka will take place across two Phases (II and III). Polling in Hassan will take place in the II Phase along with Udupi Chikmagalur, Dakshina Kannada, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore North, Bangalore Central, Bangalore South, Chikkballapur, Kolar.
