The Delhi government has asked all state departments on Saturday to identify contractual staff by November 15 and finalise proposals for their regularisation. The move which could impact over 70,000 employees is being seen as timed for the municipal polls early next year. The departments have been asked to send proposals to the chief secretary so that a unified policy will be formed to put it up before the cabinet

Regularisation of contractual staff was among AAP’s poll promises which the party is trying to achieve. Kejriwal said the proposal for regularisation of guest teachers was being sent to the Lieutenant Governor (LG). He also said that if the LG does not approve then the Delhi government will take the matter to the Supreme Court.

The Delhi government on Saturday also decided to extend its scheme of giving free water of 20,000 liters per month to the residents of New Delhi Municipal Council. This move by the government could benefit around 21,000 households living in the central Delhi area.
