Thiruvananthapuram: Shoranur Member of Legislative Assembly PK Sasi is suspended for six months by the Communist Party of India (CPM) following the charges of sexual misconduct by a woman leader.
The state secretariat after examining the explanation of MLA Sasi has made the announcement of his suspension on Monday.
The CPM state secretariat had earlier accepted the inquiry commission’s recommendation for action against Sasi.
CPM had appointed a two-member commission led by minister PK Sreemathi and AK Balan to probe the issue.
In their report, the commission has said that he has sexually assaulted the female leader, but his exchange of words with the victim are insensitive and violating the modesty of a woman.
The commission has recommended for the action to be initiated against Sasi for misbehaving with the complainant.
