Kerala SSLC, Plus 2 exams postponed again, to be conducted in June

Following the Centre’s decision to extend the lockdown further till May 31, the Kerala government has decided to again postpone the state SSLC, Plus 2 exam schedule less than a week before the exams were supposed to be held. The exams will now be conducted in the month of June.

The decision about the deferring of the exam was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Likewise, the state cabinet has also decided to postpone the dates for university examinations. While the revised dates have not been released yet, so as per media reports, it suggests that the exams might be held in June first week.

The exams were earlier slated to be held from May 21 to 29, 2020.

For SSLC, only three examinations mathematics, physics, and chemistry are pending whereas, for plus two or class 12, several exams are yet to be conducted.

Around 4.2 lakh registered to take the state SSLC exams this year. The state reportedly readied with 14 lakh facemasks for student’s proper safety measures during the holding of the exam amid the pandemic.

The schools in Kerala will be opened on June 1. The chief minister mentioned that if the academic sessions postponed, the classes would be conducted via the various other channels such as online or through television among others. The state CM also asked cable and DTH operators to ensure the availability of these channels.
